Authorization and Security on the MASANETO Platform

Why is identity verification mandatory?

We require e-identity verification to protect your business. A verified identity ensures the three main pillars of MASANETO:

• 100% protection against fake bids: There are no anonymous "trolls" or bots artificially raising prices on the platform. Every auction participant is a real, verified person. If someone places a bid, they bear legal responsibility for it.
• Verified sellers: Buyers can be confident that the goods exist and are being sold legally because every seller is verified.
• Secure payments: Identity verification lets us issue the commission invoice to a real, identified buyer and meet European Union Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements. Payment for the goods is settled directly between buyer and seller.

How does the authorization process work? (One-time check)

We respect your time, which is why we have designed a Progressive Verification system.

• Registration: You can register on the platform in a few seconds using only your email. This is enough to freely explore auctions and platform features.
• Identification: The system will ask you to verify your identity only when you want to perform a real action - create a new auction, message a seller, or place your first bid.
• Future use: This is a one-time process. Once your profile is verified, you will be able to log in to the platform quickly and easily using just your email and password.

Our partners and technologies used

To ensure the highest security and compliance standards, MASANETO works with two certified partners: eID Easy for electronic identity checks and Stripe for payment card checks. Depending on your country of residence, you can confirm your identity with one of the following:

• Smart-ID (Widely available in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia)
• eParaksts Mobile and eID card (For Latvian users)
• Mobile-ID (For Estonian and Lithuanian users)
• Payment card verification with Stripe (for users from countries where the eID tools above are not available, for example Poland)

The card check takes no money: Stripe confirms that the card is genuine and active using strong customer authentication (3D Secure). You enter the card details on Stripe’s own page - MASANETO never sees or stores them; we receive only the cardholder name, the issuing country, the card brand and the last four digits. Stripe is also our payment partner, through which the buyer pays the commission invoice.

Your data privacy and security

Protecting your data is our priority.

• No password storage: MASANETO and our partners do not see or store your Smart-ID or eParaksts PIN codes. Authorization takes place in a strictly encrypted channel.
• Minimal data processing: Technical data obtained during the authentication process is automatically deleted from our partner's (eID Easy) servers within 2 hours after authentication is completed.
• Only the essentials: Only your official first name, last name, and personal code are securely stored in the MASANETO database to link it to your user profile and give your actions legal force. All data is processed in accordance with strict GDPR requirements.
